PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an R1-T1-X1 based sintered magnet having a coercive force increased not only in the vicinity of a magnet surface, but also in a magnet, of which the effect of coercive force increase is never marred by surface grinding for magnet size adjustment.
SOLUTION : An R1-T1-X1 based sintered magnet comprises : R1 of 27 mass% or more and 35 mass% or less (where R1 is at least one of rare earth elements); X1 of 0.85 mass% or more and 0.93 mass% or less (where X1 is at least one of B and C, which necessarily includes B); and T1 of 61.5 mass% or more (where T1 is Fe, or Fe and M, and M is one or more kinds selected from Ga, Al, Si, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ge, Zr, Nb, Mo and Ag). In the R1-T1-X1 based sintered magnet, the molar ratio [T1]/[X1] is 13.0 or more. The sintered magnet further comprises Pr, Zn and an R2-T2-A compound. Typically, the R2-T2-A compound has a La6Co11Ga3 type crystal structure.
