Provided are : a fluorescent material powder having a high fluorescence retention rate; a light-emitting device using same; and a method for producing the fluorescent material powder. This fluorescent material powder is characterized by being represented by formula (1) and by having a D10 value of 10 μm or more, the D10 value corresponding to a cumulative volume of 10% on a volume-based particle size distribution obtained using a laser diffraction scattering method. Formula (1) : MaMgbSi2Oc : Eux, Lny (Here : M is one or more metal elements selected from the group consisting of Sr, Ca and Ba; Ln is a rare earth metal element other than Eu; 2.5 ≤ a ≤ 3.3; 0.9 ≤ b ≤ 1.1; 7.4 ≤ c ≤ 8.4; 0 < x ≤ 0.08; and 0 ≤ y ≤ 0.003.)
