The present invention relates to a part (1) comprising a substrate (3) with at least one portion made of a silicon-containing material adjacent to a substrate surface (S) and an environmental barrier (2) formed on the substrate surface and comprising : - a first layer (7) comprising at least one rare earth silicate with an average grain size of 1μm or less; and - a second layer (9) covering the first layer and comprising at least one second rare earth silicate and having an average grain size of more than 1μm.
