PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a liquid crystal display device that has suppressed the occurrence of mottled rainbow when an oriented polyester film is used as a polarizer protective film for both of a pair of polarizing plates.SOLUTION : There is provided a polarizer protective film composed of an orientation polyester film having a retardation of 4000 to 30000 nm, a ratio of retardation to retardation in the thickness direction (Re/Rth) of 0.83 or more, and a variation in Re/Rth of 15% or less.
