PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To allow the recovery of rare cells from a rare-cell-containing liquid at high yield. SOLUTION : The rare cell recovery method uses a cell capture device provided with a housing having an inflow port and an outflow port, and a filter with a plurality of through holes on a flow path within the housing between the inflow port and the outflow port, and comprises : a capturing step S01 of capturing rare cells by filtering the rare-cell-containing liquid using a filter by introducing the rare-cell-containing liquid through the inflow port and discharging from the outflow port; a buffer replacement step S03 of filling the flow path in the cell capture device with buffer; a resin replacement step S04 of replacing the buffer in the flow path in the cell capture device with a photo-curable resin; a transfer step S05 of curing the photo-curable resin in the cell capture device thereby transferring the rare cells from the filter to the photo-curable resin; and a recovery step S06 of removing the photo-curable resin cured in the transfer step from the cell capture device and recovering the cells.
