PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a novel permanent magnet arranged without performing a nitriding treatment nor using a rare earth element involving a future resource risk and a rising-price risk, and a method for manufacturing the permanent magnet.SOLUTION : A permanent magnet comprises : Fe in a range between 37 and 46 atom%; Mn in a range between 30 and 40 atom%; and Ga in a range between 22 and 30 atom%. The permanent magnet has a main phase of a tetragonal structure, and satisfies the following expression (1) : Fe>Mn (1).
