A method for mining a rare graph pattern is performed in a rare graph pattern mining apparatus. The method comprises the steps of : (a) removing an invalid graph element by scanning graph data and significance information on a graph element in a graph database; (b) constructing a valid graph element list for mining a rare graph pattern based on valid information of the graph element, and expanding the rare graph pattern based on the valid graph element list so as to extract a weighted rare graph candidate pattern; and (c) selecting a valid weighted rare graph pattern based on the weighted rare graph candidate pattern so as to obtain a weighted rare graph pattern mining result.
