PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a brass having high corrosion resistance without passing through a heat treatment process for suppressing dezincification corrosion. SOLUTION : There is provided a brass consisting of Cu : 55 to 75 mass%, Si : 0.01 to 1.5 mass%, Sn and Al : amount satisfying a prescribed relation with apparent zinc content, Mn as an optional element : less than 0.25 mass%, Ti as an optional element : less than 0.05 mass%, Mg as an optional element : less than 0.3 mass%, P as an optional element : less than 0.15 mass%, rare earth element as an optional element : less than 0.004 mass% and the balance Zn with inevitable impurities, and having apparent zinc content of 37 to 45.
