Provided are a free-cutting brass alloy and a manufacturing method therefor. The copper alloy comprises, by weight percentage : 62% - 65% of copper, 0.01% - 0.15% of iron, 0.2% - 0.6% of tin, 0.2% - 0.6% of aluminum, 0.02% - 0.2% of nickel, 0.06% - 0.15% of arsenic, 0.3% - 1.2% of bismuth, 0.03% - 0.15% of antimony, 0.0005% - 0.0025% of boron, 34% - 37% of zinc and 0.01% - 0.1% of a mixed rare earth modificator.
