PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To improve heat resistance, abrasion resistance, oxidation resistance, strength and toughness of a frictional agitation joining tool, without complicating a composition and a manufacturing process of the frictional agitation joining tool.
SOLUTION : A frictional agitation joining tool (10) includes a sialon phase and a grain boundary phase of including an α sialon and a β sialon expressed by Si6-ZAlZOZN8-Z. A Z value of the β sialon is 0.2≤Z≤0.7. At least a part of the grain boundary phase is formed of oxynitride of a rare-earth element and silicon. The oxynitride is included at a rate of 0.15-0.75 in the maximum X-ray intensity ratio to the content of the β sialon. The α ratio of indicating a rate of the α sialon in the sialon phase is 10%-40%.
