Provided are : a silicon nitride sintered body that has good mechanical properties, in particular fracture toughness, and has good product life when processed into a product; a rolling body using same; and a bearing. The silicon nitride sintered body includes a rare earth element and an aluminum element. The rare earth element content is 6%–13% by mass, in oxide terms, relative to the gross mass of the silicon nitride sintered body. The aluminum element content is 6%–13% by mass, in oxide terms, relative to the gross mass of the silicon nitride sintered body. A surface section, being a region within 2 mm of the surface of the silicon nitride sintered body, includes inclusions (I) and the total cross-sectional area ratio of the inclusions (I) relative to the total cross-sectional area of the surface section is at least 0.05%.
