PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an electrode material that makes it possible to obtain an electrode for spark plug that is excellent in spark wearing resistance and oxidation resistance as well as corrosion resistance in an environment of use of alcohol fuel, and provide such an electrode for spark plug. SOLUTION : An electrode material contains, in mass%, rare earth elements of 0.05% or more and 0.5% or less in total, Mn of 1.1% or more and 2.5% or less, at least one of Al and Cr of less than 0.01%, and Si in a range in which the ratio of Si/Mn is 0.5 or more and less than 1.1, with the balance being Ni and unavoidable impurities.
