PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a neodymium iron boron permanent magnet with nitride phases, and a method for manufacturing the permanent magnet.
SOLUTION : A neodymium iron boron permanent magnet with nitride phases comprises : crystal phases having a R2T14B structure; and crystal grain boundaries distributed around the crystal phases. The crystal grain boundaries include N, F, Zr, Ga and Cu elements. There is a Laves phase including R1, Tb and N elements between the crystal phase and the crystal grain boundary. The Laves phase includes a phase including a (R1, Tb)2T14(B, N) structure. In the neodymium iron boron permanent magnet, R represents two or more kinds of rare earth elements including Pr and Nd; T represents Fe, Mn, Al and Co elements; R1 represents one or more kinds of rare earth elements including at least one of Dy and Tb. The crystal phases include Pr, Nd, Fe, Mn, Al, Co and B elements, and the crystal grain boundaries include at least one of Nb and Ti. Using an N element instead of part of B elements can increase a coercive force, and effectively raise the service temperature of the magnet.
