PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a positive electrode material for a lithium ion secondary battery, which makes possible to achieve a lithium ion secondary battery superior in long-term cycle characteristics when used as a positive electrode for a lithium ion secondary battery.
SOLUTION : A positive electrode material for a lithium ion secondary battery comprises : positive electrode active material particles, each having a core particle made of LixAyMzPO4 (0≤x≤1.1, 0.8≤y≤1.1, 0≤z≤0.2, where "A" represents at least one element selected from a group consisting of Fe, Mn, Co and Ni, and "M" is at least one element selected from a group consisting of Mg, Ca, Co, Sr, Ba, Ti, Zn, B, Al, Ga, In, Si, Ge and rare earth elements), and a carbonaceous coating covering the surface of the core particle; and inorganic phosphate particles.
