PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a polycarbonate resin having a low photoelastic constant, capable of suppressing the generation of a low molecule volatile matter and significantly improving die contamination during molding and especially, suitable for optical applications.SOLUTION : The polycarbonate resin comprises a diol component including cyclic acetal based diols of a following formula (A), where, Rto Rare independently a hydrogen atom or a 1-10C alkyl group. The cyclic dimer component of the cyclic acetal based diol is in a range of 10-8000 ppm.
