PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a water soluble functional fluid having efficient putrefaction resistance and sterilization performance, and reduced in adverse effects on materials to be processed.SOLUTION : There is provided a water soluble functional fluid containing a triazole derivative represented by general formula (1). In the general formula (1), Ris hydrogen or a methyl group and X is a hydroxyl group or an amino group represented by general formula (2). In the general formula (2), Rand Rare each independently hydrogen, an alkyl group having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, a hydroxy alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, an aralkyl group having 6 to 8 carbon atoms, or an alkyl aralkyl group having 6 to 8 carbon atoms, however the case that both of Rand Rare hydrogen is excluded.
