PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an R-T-B-based sintered magnet improved in squareness, an alloy for an R-T-B-based sintered magnet suitable for producing the same, and an R-T-B-based sintered magnet.
SOLUTION : An R-T-B-based sintered magnet has a region where the concentration of at least one heavy rare earth element decreases from the surface thereof toward the inside thereof. The at least one heavy rare earth element includes at least one of Tb and Dy. The R includes Nd. The T includes Fe, Co and Cu. The sintered magnet has a grain boundary phase including at least one of Tb and Dy, and Nd, between two main phase particles. The value obtained by subtracting a half-value width of a Cu concentration distribution curve from a half-value width of a Tb or Dy concentration distribution curve in a portion that includes the grain boundary phase is 10-20 nm.
