PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth magnet manufacturing method by which a desired amount of a quality-modified alloy can be dispersed in and caused to permeate into a rare earth magnet precursor with good accuracy, and a rare earth magnet having a desired coercive force performance can be manufactured.
SOLUTION : A rare earth magnet manufacturing method comprises : a first step for sintering magnetic powder serving as a rare earth magnet material to manufacture a sintered compact S, and manufacturing a rare earth magnet precursor C from the sintered compact S; and a second step for dispersing a quality-modified alloy in the rare earth magnet precursor C and causing the alloy to permeate thereinto to manufacture a rare earth magnet. In the second step, a sheet material SH with alloy powder of the quality-modified alloy dispersed in a thermoplastic resin is used, and the dispersion and permeation of the quality-modified alloy are performed by putting the sheet material SH in close contact with a surface of the rare earth magnet precursor C, followed by a thermal treatment.
