PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a ferritic stainless steel for a solid oxide type fuel cell, combining resistivity to poisoning of Cr with creep resistance strength under long term high temperature oxidation environment without depending on addition of a rare earth element. SOLUTION : The ferritic stainless steel for a solid oxide type fuel cell is provided that contains, by mass%, C : 0.03% or less, Si : 1% or less, Mn : 1% or less, P : 0.045% or less, S : 0.003% or less, Cr : 19 to 24%, Mo : 0.5 to 2%, N : 0.02% or less, Al : 0.2% or less, V : 0.2% or less, Nb : 0.001 to 0.5%, and further satisfying following (a) and/or (b), and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. (a) It contains one or two or more kind of B : 0.0050% or less, Ga : 0.010% or less, Mg : 0.010% or less and Ca : 0.010% or less in a range satisfying formula (1). 10×(B+Ga)+Mg+Ca>0.015...(1) Formula.
