This shaped material for downhole tool member is a magnesium alloy in which 0 wt% or more and less than 0.3 wt% of a rare earth metal, a metal material other than magnesium and a rare earth metal, and 0.1 to 20 wt% of a decomposition promoter are dispersed in a phase containing 70-95 wt% of magnesium, the average particle diameter of the metal material being 1-300 μm, the tensile strength being 200-500 MPa, and the decomposition speed in a 2% potassium chloride aqueous solution at 93°C being 20 mg/cm2 to 20, 000 mg/cm2 per day. A high-strength, readily decomposable downhole tool is realized thereby.
