PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To develop an adsorbent body that can directly remove phosphorus in blood and a phosphorus adsorption column using the adsorbent body, and to enable a novel high-phosphorus plasma treatment technique that efficiently reduces the phosphorus concentration in blood. SOLUTION : Provided is a phosphorus adsorbent that comprises powder and granular material formed of carbonates of rare earth elements, has a solubility of 10 mg or less in 100 g of water at 20°C, and is used for a phosphorus adsorption application in extracorporeal circulation.
