PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for removing molybdenum in molybdenum-containing waste water which, in a case of waste water containing a high concentration of molybdenum, can substantially lower the molybdenum concentration by subsequently treating the waste water once.
SOLUTION : The method for removing molybdenum in waste water comprises : adjusting pH of waste water to 3.0 to 6.0 by adding, to molybdenum-containing waste water, a water-soluble iron salt, a rare earth element-containing solution, and further, if necessary, a pH regulator; and carrying out solid-liquid separation of suspended solids generated. The water-soluble iron salt is desirably selected from ferric chloride, ferric nitrate, ferrous sulfate, or polyferric sulfate, and the water-soluble iron salt is preferably added to the waste water so that its concentration in the waste water becomes 0.005 to 1.0 w/v%.
