PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a scintillator phoswich that does not have an interface boundary between two different compositions, nor does it have loss due to reflection.
SOLUTION : A scintillator contains a plurality of garnet compositions having the following structural formula in a single block. M1aM2bM3cM4dO12 (in the formula, O denotes oxygen. M1, M2, M3 and M4 respectively denote first, second, third and fourth metal which are different from each other. Sum total of a, b, c and d is approximately 8. a is 2 to 3.5, b is 0 to 5, c is 0 to 5, and d is 0 to 1. Herein, both b and c, b and d, or c and d cannot be 0 simultaneously. M1 is rare-earth element including gadolinium, yttrium, and lutetium or a combination thereof. M2 is aluminum or boron. M3 is gallium. M4 is a co-dopant. Herein, two compositions having the same structural formula are not adjacent to each other, and the single block does not have optical interface between two different compositions.)
