PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth magnet superior in magnetic property, and a method for manufacturing the rare earth magnet.
SOLUTION : A rare earth magnet comprises Sm, Fe and N, and as additive elements, Me and B. The Me represents at least one element selected from elements of Groups IV, V and VI of the periodic table. The rare earth magnet has a nanocomposite organization including an Fe phase, a SmFeN phase and a MeB phase. The SmFeN phase includes, of a Sm2Fe17 Nx phase and a SmFe9 Ny phase, at least the Sm2Fe17 Nx phase. In the organization, the volume ratio of the SmFe9 Ny phase is 65 vol.% or less. The atomic ratio of a total content of the Me and B to a total amount of the Sm, Fe, Me and B is 0.1-5.0 atom%. The atomic ratio of Fe in all of compound phases including at least one of the Me and B is 20 atom% or less.
