A magnesium-aluminum alloy, comprising the following components : 30-40 parts of Mg, 1-3 parts of Fe, 1-1.6 parts of Ni, 0.8-2 parts of Cr, 0.2-0.6 parts of Ag, 1.4-3 parts of Co, 1-2 parts of Ti, and 2-4 parts of rare earth, with the balance being Al and impurities. A method for preparing a magnesium-aluminum alloy comprises the steps of solid solution, squeezing, and quenching. The intensity, electrical conductivity, and bending processability of the alloy are enhanced; moreover, the toughness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, welding capability, and low-temperature performance thereof are improved.
