The method comprises : selecting a steel strip having a thickness of 4 mm; coating aluminum or aluminum alloy having a silicon content of = 2 wt.% on both sides of steel strip using a roll bonding process to form a layer of aluminum; and rolling the coated steel strip with a thickness of 10-150 mu m. The coated steel strip is annealed after the roll-bonding process. The coated steel strip is rolled to intermediate thicknesses, and the rolled thickness of the intermediate coated steel strip is intermediately annealed before the final rolling process. The method comprises : selecting a steel strip having a thickness of 4 mm; coating aluminum or an aluminum alloy having a silicon content of = 2 wt.% on both sides of steel strip using a roll bonding process to form a layer of aluminum; and rolling the coated steel strip with a thickness of 10-150 mu m. The roll-bonding process is carried out with a deformation of 50-80%. The coated steel strip is annealed after the roll-bonding process. The coated steel strip is rolled to intermediate thicknesses, and the rolled thickness of the intermediate coated steel strip is intermediately annealed before the final rolling process. The coated and rolled steel strip is then annealed. The total content of alloying elements in a core material is less than 4%, and the core material is free from rare earth elements. An independent claim is included for a roll-plated steel sheet.
