PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a permanent magnet rotary electric machine which is applicable to washing machines with different washing capacities by use of one kind of the rotary electric machines that are approximately the same size as another. SOLUTION : A permanent magnet rotary electric machine comprises : a stator in which a concentrated winding type armature winding is applied to surround teeth; and a rotor 17 into which permanent magnets 20 are inserted. When d axis is a radical center axis of a permanent magnet in a rotor core 18 and q axis is separated by 90 degrees therefrom, a magnetic bridge is an iron core after eliminating a q axis side iron core that is a part of the rotor core in an outer peripheral side in the q axis side, and it is constructed by a U-shaped or V-shaped permanent magnet and SmFeN bonded magnet including rare earth. The rotor is constructed in which a lamination thickness of a rotor core is thicker than a lamination thickness of a stator core, and a portion having a gap of approximately 1 mm and a portion having a gap of approximately 100 μm are provided between both sides of the SmFeN bonded magnet in a circumferential direction in a permanent magnet insertion hole and an inner peripheral side of the magnet bridge. The stator core is installed at the outer periphery of the portion having a gap of approximately 1 mm so as to be capable of providing the permanent magnet rotary electric machine by only changing the permanent magnet, which is applicable to washing machines with different washing capacities.
