PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a fluorescent material that emits light in a wider range of a near-infrared region.
SOLUTION : The fluorescent material of the present invention comprises a M-doped zinc-titanium composite oxide in which a doping element M which is at least one of a trivalent transition metal element and a rare earth element is doped into a zinc-titanium composite oxide. In the fluorescent material, when the content of titanium is A mole and the content of the doping element M content is B mole, it is preferable that the doping amount R (mol%) of the doping element M represented by R=B×100/(A+B) is within a range of 0.1 mol% or more and 5 mol% or less.
