PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rotary electric machine performing variable speed drive from a low speed rotation to a high speed operation capable of preventing reduction of output. SOLUTION : The rotary electric machine includes a permanent magnet which has a composition containing at least one element selected from rare-earth elements. The residual magnetization of the permanent magnet is 1.16T or more. The coercive force Hcj on an M-H curved line of the permanent magnet is 1000 kA/m or more.
