PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide composite material and crushing method and recycling method therefor, capable of crushing decomposition products separated from components with ease and in a short time. SOLUTION : The composite material, including main phases 23 and a grain boundary phase 24 formed between the main phases, further includes a base material formed from at least one selected from a group comprised of metal, rare-earth element, resin, ceramics and these mixture; a shape change material 22 which is provided at the grain boundary phase 24 and whose shape is changed by being heated to at least a predetermined temperature.
