SOLUTION : A solvent in a slurry 41 with a powder of a rare earth compound being dispersed in the solvent is removed, and a sintered magnet body surface is coated with the powder by drying the slurry by irradiating a sintered magnet body to which the slurry has been applied, with near infrared rays of wavelength ranging from 0.8 to 5 μm when the slurry is applied to a sintered magnet body 1 and dried, the sintered magnet body surface is coated with the powder by removing the solvent in the slurry and rare earth elements are absorbed in the sintered magnet body by performing heat treatment on the sintered magnet body surface.
EFFECT : The powder of the rare earth compound can be efficiently and uniformly applied to the sintered magnet body surface.
