PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide novel oxygen excess type metal oxide excellent in oxygen adsorption and desorption speed and having suppressed reduction of oxygen adsorbed amount caused by repeated use, a production method therefor or the like.
SOLUTION : There is provided oxygen excess type metal oxide which is represented by a formula (1) and in which peak strength of 103 of a hexagonal structure is smaller than peak strength of 110 and half value width of peak of 103 (FWHM) is 0.3° or more when measured by an X-ray powder diffraction method. AjDkEmGnO7+δ (1), where A is a trivalent rare earth element or Ca, D is one or more kind selected from alkali earth metal elements, E and G are each independently one or more kind selected from oxygen tetracoordination element and at least one kind is a transition metal element, j>0, k>0, each independently m≥0, n≥0, j+k+m+n=6 and 0<δ≤1.5.
