PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a material which is easily combined, does not contain a rare metal and is available for a sodium ion secondary battery. SOLUTION : The material for a sodium ion secondary battery contains at least first group atoms of a periodic table, Ti atoms and O atoms, a ratio of the first group atoms of a periodic table with respect to the Ti atoms (periodic table first group atoms/Ti atoms) is 0.01 to 0.5 (molar ratio) and a ratio of the O atoms with respect to the Ti atoms (O atoms/Ti atoms) is 2.005 to 2.25.
