A method for preparing grain boundary diffused rare earth permanent magnetic material by vapor deposition using a composite target. The method employs a composite target to vaporize and adhere to an NdFeB magnetic surface. In the present invention, via a medium and high temperature process and a low temperature aging process, the coercivity of a magnet is increased significantly while the remanence and magnetic energy productremain substantially the same. The present invention can improve the magnet coercivity and eliminate defects such as melting pit and grain growth caused by a long-time high temperature processing, such that the usage of heavy rare earth material is significantly reduced and product cost is also reduced.
