A method for producing a polyisoprene, said method being characterized by comprising polymerizing isoprene using an isoprene-containing composition that comprises isoprene and an oxygen-containing neutral compound and a polymerization catalyst composition that comprises a rare earth element compound and an organic metal compound, wherein the amount of the organic metal compound to be added is 0.6 to 3.0 parts by weight relative to 100 parts by weight of the isoprene-containing composition.
