PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a new azo-based dichromic pigment having an absorption maximum wavelength in a long-wavelength area while maintaining a high-order parameter (the S value), and to provide a liquid crystal composition and a crystal element, containing the pigment.SOLUTION : The new azo-based dichromic pigment is shown by structural formula (I). (In formula, R, Rand Rare each independently an arbitrary monovalent group, A is a hydrogen bonding substituent, a ring Ar is a thieno-thiazole which may have a substituent, a 1, 4-phenylene which may have a substituent, or a 1, 4-naphthylene ring which may have a substituent, and n is an integer of ≥2.
