PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a filter composed of a transparent filter case excellent in acid-resistance and alkali-resistance and hardly damaged even by a hard metal, and a manufacturing method thereof, and to provide a method for recovering precious metal and rare metal by said filter. SOLUTION : A filter is characterized in that a filter medium constituting a filter, a retainer plate holding said filter medium and having a plurality of liquid passing parts and a filtration case supporting said retainer plate therein are made of single crystal sapphire.
