PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth adsorbent having excellent rare earth selectivity and a rare earth adsorption method. SOLUTION : There is provided a rare earth adsorbent which has a chelidonic acid monoamide group as a ligand and contains a functional group represented by the following general formula (1) (X is selected from hydrogen or an alkali metal; R1 is a bonding group with a simple polymer, R2 is a functional group selected from an alkyl group, an alkenyl group and an aryl group which may be substituted with nitrogen or oxygen or contain the atoms in a side chain.
