The present invention relates to a scintillator, a method for preparing the same, and an application thereof. The scintillator according to an embodiment of the present invention has a chemical formula of Tl_aA_b_B_c : yCe, wherein A is at least one rare earth element selected from trivalent rare earth elements; B is at least one halogen element selected from halogen elements; a=1, b=2, c=7, or a=2, b=1, c=5, or a=3, b=1, c=6; and y is equal to or greater than 0 and equal to or smaller than 0.5. The scintillator according to an embodiment of the present invention has high detection efficiency with respect to radiation, a high light output, and excellent fluorescent attenuation time characteristics.COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
