PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a positive electrode material for a sodium secondary battery which is less in quantity of rare metal used, high in capacity, and superior in iron weight percentage capacity.
SOLUTION : A positive electrode material for a sodium secondary battery has a main phase of O3 type layered structure. The positive electrode material comprises a compound having a composition represented by the general formula (1), Na1±δFe1-x-yMnxNiyO2 [where δ is 0-0.10, x is 0.05-0.23 and y is 0.05-0.23, provided that x and y may be different from each other or not], and having crystal grains of which the crystallite size is 30-60 nm on average.
