PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a high refractive index low dispersion glass suitable for manufacturing an optical system.
SOLUTION : A glass composition has total content of each B2O3+SiO2, La2O3+Y2O3+Gd2O3+Yb2O3, Nb2O5+TiO2+Ta2O5+WO3 and ZrO2 in specific ranges, and each of the following ratios of contents falls in specific ranges : (La2O3+Y2O3+Gd2O3+Yb2O3)/(B2O3+SiO2), (Nb2O5+TiO2+Ta2O5+WO3)/(B2O3+SiO2), La2O3+Y2O3+Gd2O3+Yb2O3)/ZnO, La2O3+Y2O3+Gd2O3+Yb2O3)/La2O3, (La2O3+Y2O3+Gd2O3+Yb2O3)/Y2O3, (La2O3+Y2O3+Gd2O3+Yb2O3)/Gd2O3, Nb2O5+TiO2+WO3)/Nb2O5 and (Nb2O5+TiO2+Ta2O5+WO3)/Ta2O5 .
