This ferritic stainless steel material has a chemical composition which includes, in mass%, 0.02-0.15% of C, 0.01-1.5% of Si, 0.01-1.5% of Mn, not more than 0.035% of P, not more than 0.01% of S, 22.5-35.0% of Cr, 0.01-6.0% of Mo, 0.01-6.0% of Ni, 0.01-1.0% of Cu, not more than 0.035% of N, 0.01-0.35% of V, 0.5-1.0% of B, 0.001-6.0% of Al, 0-0.10% of rare earth elements, and 0-2.50% of Sn, the remainder comprising Fe and impurities. The value calculated as {the Cr content(mass%)+3×the Mo content(mass%)-2.5×the B content(mass%)-17×the C content(mass%)} is 20-45%. In the ferritic stainless steel material, at least composite metal deposits, which have M2B-type metal boride deposits as deposit cores, and M23C6-type metal carbide deposits deposited on the surfaces and peripheries thereof, are dispersed in the parent phase consisting of ferrite phase, and are exposed on the surface.
