PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a double end type short arc lamp capable of obtaining high pressure resistance for an arc tube and a sealing structure, and also capable of radiating an ultraviolet, an ultraviolet having a short wavelength in particular with high intensity, and a method of manufacturing the same. SOLUTION : A double end type short arc lamp disposed in an arc tube 11 made of single-crystal almina, equipped with a cathode and an anode supported by electrode rodes 21, 26 respectively, and filled with a rare gas has sealing members 15, 16 made of almina ceramic, which are disposed on at least one end side of the arc tube 11 and fixed with the electrode rods 21, 26 passing through them, and first tubular members 41, 46 made of kovar metal, which are air-tightly fixed to the peripheral surfaces of the sealing members 15, 16.
