PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a fluorescent material which are in the form of most possible separate particles and very small, with submicron, or smaller than 1 micron, sizes, especially sizes of 500 nm or smaller, and a transparent light-emitting material in the form of a film. SOLUTION : A liquid-phase suspension of practically liquid crystal particles has an average size of a rare earth borate of 100-400 nm and a dispersion index of maximally 0.7. The rare earth elements constituting the rare earth borate include Y, Gd, La, Lu and Sc, and the suspension contains one or more elements selected from Sb, Bi and rare earth elements, other than the above rare earth elements, as dopants. A production method of a rare earth metal borate comprises baking a rare earth boro-carbonate or a rare earth hydroxy-boro-carbonate at a temperature which is sufficient to form a borate and yields a product of a specific surface area of 3 m2/g or greater and wet-crushing the baked product. A production method of a rare earth borate which is usable in production of a light-emitting transparent material as a light-emitting material is also provided. COPYRIGHT : (C)2016, JPO&INPIT
