P : N=2n : 12n, where P is the number of poles of a permanent magnet (23) and N is the number of slots (73), where : n is an integer of 2 or higher, the length of an air gap between the inner circumference of a stator core (12) and the outer circumference of the permanent magnet (23) is 1.0 mm or less, the permanent magnet (23) contains no heavy rare earth elements and is embedded within a rotor core (22) excluding the curved surface portion on the external periphery, and the thickness of the circumferential center of the permanent magnet (23) is 2.4-4.2 mm.
