PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare-earth metal adsorbent capable of selective adsorption separation of a target rare-earth metal, a production method thereof, a water treatment apparatus and a water treatment method. SOLUTION : A rare-earth metal adsorbent has what results from removal of a rare-earth metal from a copolymer of a coordination compound and a monomer different from the coordination compound. The coordination compound has a rare-earth metal and a polymerizable ligand having a functional group represented by the general formula (1). In the formula (1), M is a hydrogen atom or an alkali metal atom; R1 and R2 each independently represent a C1-5 alkyl group, a C1-5 alkoxy group or a halogen atom; p represents an integer from 0 to 2; q represents an integer from 0 to 4; r represents 0 or 1; and the symbol * represents a bond.
