PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth magnet having high residual magnetization and coercive force and excellent in magnetic characteristics, and a method for producing the rare earth magnet. SOLUTION : A rare earth magnet includes : magnet particles of a rare earth-iron-based alloy comprising, as a main phase, a rare earth-iron-based compound containing a rare earth element and Fe; and amorphous silica particles interposed between the magnetic particles. In the rare earth magnet, the coating ratio of the amorphous silica particles to the magnetic particles is 40% or more and 230% or less, and the relative density is 85% or more. The average crystal grain size of the crystal grains of the main phase is preferably 500 nm or less. COPYRIGHT : (C)2015, JPO&INPIT
