PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a hydrogen-generating alloy, a method for production thereof, a hydrogen-generating cartridge, a hydrogen production device, a hydrogen production method, and a fuel cell system, capable of significantly reducing the use amount of expensive rare metals and capable of increasing a hydrogen generation amount at low cost by extremely enhancing the content of reactive metal materials.SOLUTION : There is provided a method for production of a hydrogen-generating alloy comprising : forming a passive film melting layer by attaching a gallium-indium-tin eutectic alloy being a liquid at normal temperatures onto the surface of at least one granular metal material selected from aluminum, magnesium, silicon and zinc; and forming thousands of fine eutectic alloy diffusion layers extending from the passive film melting layer to a crystal grain boundary of the granular metal material. Further, there is provided the hydrogen-generating alloy, and also there are provided a hydrogen-generating cartridge, a hydrogen production device, a hydrogen production method and a fuel cell system using the hydrogen-generating alloy.
