PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a yellow phosphor that realizes white illumination with high luminance and high deterioration resistance during use as illumination in combination with a blue LED, compared to currently most common combinations of yellow phosphor-red phosphor-blue LED (XAG : Ce-MASN : Eu-blue LED). SOLUTION : A phosphor comprises a crystal represented by the general formula (1) in the figure, where Ln is at least one element selected from the group consisting of rare earth elements excluding La, and M is at least one element selected from the group consisting of the group 2 elements in the long form periodic table.
