PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rubber composition for a tire capable of improving low fuel consumption and mechanical strength after heat deterioration, and to provide a pneumatic tire in which the rubber composition for a tire is used for tire members (particularly, sidewall packing).SOLUTION : The rubber composition for a tire includes a natural rubber, a compound represented by formula (1) and/or formula (2), a carbon black, and a compound represented by formula (A). In formula (1), p represents an integer of 2-8. In formula (2), q represents an integer of 2-8, Mrepresents a metal ion, and r represents the valence of M. In formula (A), Y represents a 2-10C alkylene group, and Rand Rare the same or different and represent a nitrogen atom-containing monovalent organic group.
